Well I'd say that tonight's elimination show was verging on just perfect. With the exception of the fact that Tim Urban SOMEHOW managed to stay safe and didn't even flirt with the idea of being eliminated, AND the fact that Andrew Garcia had almost the lowest number of votes tonight..I'd say everything else went really great!
John Park and Jermaine, the two boys who left tonight, for sure should've stayed over Tim Urban..who was actually the first guy to be told he was safe. Seriously... he better not be around too much longer or I'll start to get really annoyed. And speaking of people that shouldn't stay too much longer... little Andrew Kelly should most definitely have been in the bottom two over Andrew Garcia. I was quite surprised to find the early front runner standing where he stood tonight. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for him to get back to the excellence we saw in Hollywood week from him. So even though Tim and Aaron SHOULD have been the two to leave tonight, neither Jermaine or John ever had a shot at winning the whole thing anyway so it doesn't really matter in the long run. Andrew, Big Mike, Adorable Alex Lambert, and maybe Lee DeWyze if he does something next week to really impress me, are the only 4 that I'll really care to see in the top 10 or 12. The rest of the guys just don't really do it for me.
Now, the ladies elimination...can I get a Hallelujah!! Those are, without a doubt, the two that I wanted to see go home tonight! Michelle whatever-her-last-name-is-cuz-she-wasn't-good-enough-for-me-to-remember-it was virtually SHOCKED when she got the boot. Me? Not surprised in the least. Sure, her departure allowed Didi to stay in spite of a horrible performance on Tuesday, but the truth of the matter is...Didi had more previous air time AND is a lot better than what she sounded on Tuesday. She can redeem herself. And she better! It made me very happy to see Michelle go tonight. BUT...not as happy as seeing Haeley leave!! I honestly thought she was gonna stick around way longer than she ever should have, but I am SO glad that that is not going to be the case. She didn't have the chops. Just couldn't cut it. Even if she had squeaked her way into the top 12, there is NO WAY she ever would've or should've come close to winning it, so it's better to get her off sooner rather than later. It helps all true American Idol fans... this way we don't have to be annoyed week 3 of the top 12 competition when she's still around. Thank the Lord she won't be!!
As far as Danny Goekey's performance. It was pretty good. He still sounds great. There is still just something about him that bothers me though. I can't put my finger on it, just like I couldn't really figure it out last season either, but something about him just rubs me the wrong way. I don't know. I would just really like if they kept up this trend of last season contestants and brought back my love Adam. He's probably too busy being wonderful and more famous than all the rest of them though....so maybe that won't happen....but I can still hope though. (Oh, and as a side note....I promise to try to limit the number of Adam name drops I do this season. I'm fairly certain that I have already mentioned him in every blog so far, but I'll try to dial it back and remember that he's not on the show anymore...as sad as it is) ;)
Alright... until next week!!

Top 10 Ladies
Well the top 10 ladies have sung and I've come to the conclusion that I think a girl is gonna win. That's what I got from tonight's performances. I don't necessarily think they're crazy fantastic or anything, but in comparison to the guys I just think a girl is gonna win. I feel like there is a lot more variety in the girls' voices and I think they just have a better shot this season than the guys.
So let's get started....
1.) Crystal Bowersox. First of all, I just can't get over her name. Bowersox? I feel like I'm hearing about a SNL skit.. it's just weird. But anyway, she can't really do anything about that! Her voice is really different and I can't decide yet if I like it or not. I don't DISlike it...I'm just not sure how I feel. She has pretty decent pitch all the time and her vibe is super cool, I just feel like she'd get hard to listen to after a while. I don't know. She'll be in the top 10...that's for sure. People like her and she's one of the more popular ones. I think she'll grow on me as the competition goes on.
2.) Haeley Vaughn. Yuck. Yuck, yuck, and double yuck. There are 2 things about Haeley I just cannot stand. a.) her mouth. Wow. She looks like a big mouthed bass. Sorry.. I know that's mean, but c'mon! How else am I supposed to describe her?! b.) she sings bad. Plain and simple...she is just not good. She was basically flat that entire song and aside from that it just was not a good song for her. I really just need her to go home immediately and I'm afraid she might stick around a lot longer than I'd like! Ugh.
3.) Lacey Brown. First things first, I think she is absolutely gorgeous! Her skin is flawless and her eyes are beautiful! Just so pretty! She was just okay for me tonight. Nothing special about her and she wasn't as good as I remember her in Hollywood. I think people like her and I think she deserves to stay for a while, but she'll really need to step it up if she wants to make the top 10. I think she has the potential to be good enough for that, but tonight just wasn't showing it. She needs to pick a better song and not be so nervous or something.
4.) Katie Stevens. Ok, here's my beef with Katie. Her first audition was great. Her Hollywood clips were okay. Her back story was played and talked about way too much. I know they're not doing it anymore, but I have a strong feeling the reason she got into the top 24 was just as much about her ailing Grandmother as it was about her singing. She's a good singer, I'll give her that...I've just heard her 650 times before. She is nothing new and nothing spectacular. Sure, for being only 17 she really does have a great voice, but again...I've heard it all before. It's like she was trying too hard tonight too...which is strange for her since she usually seems so effortless. She's just forgettable to me compared to some of the other girls. I do think she'll be around a while though so I might want to try to get used to her.
5.) Didi Benami. Oh, Didi. I was rooting for you. I really, really was.... but that was NOT good. Not even a little. I was so disappointed about it too. I LOVED her in Hollywood week when she sang one of Kara's songs. She was excellent. But tonight... oh my. I mean, stating the obvious here but that song choice was HORRIBLE! No one should ever do that song. Especially not a girl! It was just rough all around which is really unfortunate because she was one of my front runners going into this top 24. Kara was actually dead on in her critique of her...she just lost herself or something cuz her original vibe that everyone loved just isn't there anymore. She might be gone this week because that was just horribly horrible!
6.) Michelle Delamor. Oh for the love of God, PLEASE do not be the girl that stays in the competition 7 weeks longer than you should! In other words, please go home....QUICKLY. I do not like her. Not one bit. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why the judges were singing her praises tonight. She was NOT GOOD! First of all, a Creed song? Really!? My gosh. Secondly.... what's with that breathy tone throughout most of the song. Whatever you were trying to accomplish with that....you failed. I really just don't have anything good to say about her performance. That last note when she TRIED to hold it out... oh NO! Just bad. Really, truly, very, very bad. She desperately needs to go. Preferably tomorrow night.
7.) Lilly Scott. Love her. LOVE, love, LOVE her. I would buy her album tomorrow if I could. She has SUCH a great vibe...such a cool sounding voice...and such a wonderful way about her. I just don't know what it is, but she's fantastic all around. I thought the arrangement of that song (A Change is Gonna Come...which is another one that is just WAY too overdone on this show) was actually really wonderful. It made me forget that people do it too much on the show. She is the kind of girl that needs to win this show. There has never been anyone with that kind of style win before and she's probably the best of that style that we've ever seen. I like her. A lot. A WHOLE lot.
8.) Katelyn Epperly. I like her too. Not as much as Lilly, but I really like her. I didn't think the song was too slow like the judges said... I actually really liked how she broke it down. She's got a really great voice.. just a plain and simple really good, effortless kind of voice. She's a very easy listen and I thought she did a great job. There were maybe only 2 or 3 bad notes in that entire performance. I think she'll be around for a while... as she should be.
9.) Paige Miles. Well since I missed most of last week's show of the girls, this was the very first time I'd ever heard Paige sing. Not bad. I'm not shouting her praises, but she wasn't bad. Good tone, nice voice, seems like a nice girl. Here's my beef with Paige. She is clearly the "token black voice" of this season's ladies. We've heard her before. Granted, she is already MUCH better than Lil Rounds in my opinion, but is there really a need for this same kind of voice every single season? She's good, she's just a little too typical for me.
10.) Siobhan Magnus. Siobhan! What a name.... a name that is actually pronounce Shavon...even though it is, for some reason, spelled with an i-o-b-h in the middle. Interesting. I think from now on I might just write her name phonetically. Shavon. Ok... so Shavon has a huge voice! HUGE! I mean for such a small, interesting girl, she really can wail! She was a little off here and there, but for the most part she was very good. I just can't get over how big her voice really is. And that note at the end..... holy crap that was high! She really Adam Lamberted that sucker! I think her huge voice and quirky personality will be around for a while. I'm not sure how much I love her just yet, but she's good.
Alright...so there we have it. If I had to pick my two to go I'd say Michelle and Haeley. I would say Didi because she just did so incredibly awful, but I still really like her so I'm pulling for her make it through so she can try and redeem herself! Top of my list is most definitely Lilly and then probably Katelyn tonight. I have a feeling Lilly will be at the top of my list for this entire season. If she doesn't make the top 10, I think I'll scream. Also, if Michelle or Haeley DO make the top 10, I think I'll vomit. Honestly.
So let's get started....
1.) Crystal Bowersox. First of all, I just can't get over her name. Bowersox? I feel like I'm hearing about a SNL skit.. it's just weird. But anyway, she can't really do anything about that! Top 10 Guys
Ok fellas. Umm. Let's just start by being real honest here. By this time last season, Adam had already started to blow my mind. This season... not too much of that happening yet. BUT, it's still early and Adam is and always will be the best contestant ever, so.... (you know I had to mention him in here somehow!)
So getting on with it....
I'll just start by discussing a few things about the show that I like a lot this season and a few things I don't like. Ok, actually there's one thing I really like and one thing I can't stand... and those things just happen to go by the names of Ellen and Kara. Ellen....love you, you're a great addition to the show and I think you're doing an excellent job. Kara...you bother me. A lot. You always have since the moment you became a part of the show last year, and sadly it doesn't look like that's ever going to change. I think you have some good stuff to say, I just can't stand the way you say it or that you say it at all. Sorry, but I'd rather have Paula than you. Keep Ellen....get rid of Kara...bring Paula back. Just a thought.
Alright onto the fellas. I'll just go in order and give a few thoughts on each so that this blog doesn't turn into an 18 pager....
1.) Michael Lynche. He sang "A Man's Worth". I thought he did excellent. I honestly don't think he hit one wrong note the entire song. This was my favorite performance of the night and of any performance he's ever done. This was WAY more his element than that Jason Mraz stuff he kept doing in Hollywood week. I really liked him tonight. Well done, Big Mike, well done.
2.) John Park. Oh, John. You're a cute kid...you speak really great Korean...and you were an adorable child. But that's about all you've got going for yourself in my opinion. Here's the deal with this kid....he has GOT to get over the stage fright. I mean, the microphone was shaking for pete's sake! I think because he was so nervous it caused him to not sing nearly as good as he could of. It was just okay. He's gotta step it up.
3.) Casey James. What a likable fella, huh? Sweet...fun...a little goofy. I like him. His voice? Eh... not bad. Not great, but not bad. The fact that he did Gavin Degraw's "I Don't Wanna Be" kinda put me off though. There are just one too many songs that need to be put to rest on this show and that is one of them. I love the song, but it's just a little overused on Idol. His guitar playing was great, but this isn't a show about who can play the best guitar. He's got a decent voice, just not quite "there" yet. He's way to charming to be going anywhere anytime soon though...he'll probably be in the top 10 if for only that reason alone.
4.) Alex Lambert. Well how cute is he?! Mullet and all, I just think he is absolutely adorable! His dimples and his precious little smile... just so stinkin' cute! I actually really like his voice a lot. A John Legend song was a great choice for him. His tone is FANTASTIC. Absolutely fantastic. He would make a wonderful sounding record, no questions asked. He, just like John Park, needs to get over the nerves a bit though. He looks SO scared every time he's up there. His voice is definitely good enough to get him into the top 10. I'd say he's one of the best male voices this season... just a very easy listen. And seriously, it doesn't get much more adorable if you ask me!
5.) Todrick Hall. I'm just not sure about Todrick. He's not bad, but there's just something about him that I don't think is very good. Maybe he tries too hard. I think that's it. He tries so hard to do something that's "cool and different" that it ends up just being way too much. Too many runs, too many vocal acrobats. I don't know. I'm just not sure about him. Seems like a really great guy but I'm just not sure his voice is as good as it needs to be. Or maybe it is and he just needs to learn how to get it under control. Something needs to change there, I'm just not sure what that is.
6.) Jermaine Sellers. Okay, the onesie that he was wearing....ha!! Hilarious!! The fact that he went on national television in that thing is reason enough to keep him around! So funny! I was, however, not that impressed by his voice. I remember his audition and I remember that I loved him... but now I'm not so sure. Again, just like over half the guys in this thing, he is not bad. He's just not making me jump out of my chair like a certain contestant from last season that may or may not have been mentioned in this blog already. I was bored with his song and there just wasn't anything "stand out" about his performance to me. He's gonna need to step it up if he wants to crack the top 10.
7.) Andrew Garcia. Ok, Andrew has been my favorite guy from the beginning. I love his voice, I love his tone, I love his attitude, I love his creativity... I just love him. BUT...tonight, not that great! I hate to say that because I really do love him and I think he's gonna end up doing really well this season, but tonight just wasn't his night. I completely agree with the judges in the fact that I think he did SO fantastic in Hollywood week when he did "Straight Up" that he's just got A LOT to live up to now. He may have brought out the big guns way too soon and is now struggling to keep up with himself. I still think he'll go far, but tonight just wasn't nearly as good as he's been.
8.) Aaron Kelly. I'm not even sure what to say here. His voice is good for a 16 year old and you wouldn't expect him to sound the way he does...but I just don't really get it. That was an interesting song choice in the sense that he tried to "make it his own" but really just did the same lick over and over and over. I just don't know. I just didn't like it. He was another one that I think was just trying too hard. I feel like he's the token "young kid" for this season...like he was 16 and a decent singer so they had to put him through. He's not bad, he just needs a little more experience before he can really be good enough to stick around.
9.) Tim Urban. Wow. And I mean that in NOT a good wow kind of way. He's gotta go. Plain and simple. He's cute as a button and I'm sure the younger girls are loving him, but wow. Just not good. Not good at all. There's just not much more to say there. Sorry Tim.
10.) Lee DeWyze. Here's the thing about Lee. He's intriguing. He's a little mysterious and a little "wanna be bad boy", and I think it works for him. I'm not sure I'm crazy about his voice, but there's something about him that I kind of like. I feel like we've heard his kind of voice before...pretty much every season there's a guy that sounds like him and to be honest, it's getting a little old. I do like him though, we've just seen him before. I suppose there's a lot of "repeats" every season, but the bad thing for Lee is that he's going up against people like David Cook and Chris Daughtry who were also this same kind of vibe. I think he'll stick around for a while, but he'll have to really pull out something crazy if he wants to be able to measure up to those two.
Well...there ya have it. Top 10 guys. My three favorites so far are Big Mike, Alex Lambert and his adorable mullet self, and Andrew Garcia. I think, as a whole, all the guys need to stop being so nervous and step it up. I'm gonna try really hard not to compare this season to last, because if I do that I will just constantly be disappointed in the fact that no one will ever measure up to Adam in my eyes. He was the greatest. Ever. I mean... it's just the truth. It had to be said....
Let's hope the girls bring their A games tomorrow! Until then......
So getting on with it....
I'll just start by discussing a few things about the show that I like a lot this season and a few things I don't like. Ok, actually there's one thing I really like and one thing I can't stand... and those things just happen to go by the names of Ellen and Kara.

Let the blogging begin!
Well....here we go. My first "real" blog! I decided to go this route instead of doing the tagged Facebook notes. This will just make it easier for me to not have to remember to tag so many people every week! AND....maybe I'll get thousands and thousands of followers and get hired by Entertainment Weekly to write about American Idol all the time! Ha! :)
I'm not going to get into this week of the show too much because I wasn't able to watch the entire show of girls performances. I also need to take some time to figure out how all this blogging stuff works before I can really get into it full force. Next week I'll be all set! What I will say so far is two things. 1.) I am not at all upset about the 4 that went home. That 70's kid was annoying me and I like a handful of the girls left a whole TON better than the ones that left tonight. And 2.) I miss Adam Lambert already. I mean....c'MON guys...step it UP!
Ok...this is gonna be really fun! I can't wait to get started on all of these blogs. I'm hoping the season picks up by the time the top 10 rolls around. I'm predicting a girl winner already. Just seems like they have more potential than the guys. We shall see, we shall see!! Can't wait!
*Please let me know if you saw the link on Facebook to direct you here...and tell your friends! :) I don't want anyone to miss out on all the fun! Here we go....
